Taking the time to donate blood is no trouble at all, one of Wagga’s blood bank regulars says.
A donor for nine years, Yana Constable said she’d hate to be in a position that required a donation if no blood was available.
She said it was the reason she frequently rolled up her sleeves.
The Bush and Campbell client services manager praised the support of her employers as every 12 weeks the business provided time to donate.
The company was listed as part of the Red Cross Blood Service Red25 giving program again in 2016 and contributed to an amazing total of 4217 donations recorded across Wagga.
As part of the Red25 initiative, Bush and Campbell was this month awarded for saving 129 lives.
The small business of less than 50, was recognised alongside other companies, community, groups, defence and government organisations and educational facilities across the city.
Each sector competed for the titles of most lives saved, most donations made and most new donors.
Hutcheon & Pearce, who only became a Red25 Organisation in 2016, ran and successfully achieved an internal campaign to save 1,000 lives.
At February’s presentation, the agriculture service was celebrated for saving the most lives and providing more new donors than any other organisation in Wagga.
“It’s so easy to save lives,” Ms Constable said.
“I don’t know why – if you’re eligible – you wouldn’t donate.”
