FOR many, many years now the Rural Ratepayer’s Association has been contacting Wagga City Council, the Roads and Traffic Authority (now RMS), and our local members of parliament recommending and suggesting that a heavy vehicle road bypass be constructed around Wagga.

This is vital to eliminate the very large vehicles that pass through the centre of the city.
When we first suggested the above, we envisaged the area south of Wagga as the location but the suburbs of Glenfield and Lloyd etc were established.
Then we suggested the area north of Wagga and now it is the suburbs of Estella, Estella Rise, Gobbagombalin and Boorooma etc that are now rapidly growing.
This project urgently needs to be included in a plan so land and property can be set aside to allow this to happen.
Another area of concern is the intersection of the Old Narrandera Road and Colin Knott Drive (Olympic Highway).
With the rapid growth of the new northern suburbs, this road intersection has become very dangerous, especially at peak periods.
Suggestions made were that traffic lights are installed or an overpass erected or roundabout constructed.
We have informed council, the RMS and Daryl Maguire of our concerns and hope the above options will be considered as a matter of urgency.

Preaching to the masses
I NOTE that in last Saturday's paper, a full coverage of information on a travelling psychic was given.
I am wondering if you would offer the same coverage to a travelling healing preacher?
Healings and words of knowledge are common for followers of Jesus and it is offered for free to anyone.

Abuse works both ways
IF IT’S wrong to sexually abuse human beings (“A network of sexual perpetrators operated in Anglican church youth group, royal commission finds”, The DA, February 14), how can it be right to sexually abuse non-human beings?
The beings I'm specifically referring to are farmed animals.
These victims are every bit as unwilling as their human counterparts yet they are routinely sexually violated in order to force them to produce the offspring that farmers are so desirous of.
Protesting male turkeys are held upside down with their legs clamped and are "milked" by workers.
The unwilling females are then put in stirrups and have their private parts invaded in order to artificially inseminate them.
Dairy cows are routinely subjected to the "rape rack".
The farmer pushes his arm deep inside the cow's rectum while feeling for her cervix. He then inserts a long sperm gun into her uterus. It’s obviously a very unpleasant and uncomfortable procedure.
Pigs and other farmed animals are likewise sexually abused.
The sexual violation of humans and the sexual violation of farmed animals are similar in that the purpose of both is to satisfy a desire.
In the case of farmed animals, it is a desire to profit from breeding animals for food.
But, given that we have absolutely no requirement for animal products in our diet, is the sexual abuse of non-humans any more justifiable than the sexual abuse of humans?
