Chris Wilson couldn’t thank everyone enough for their help in getting his red cattle dog Bonzer, “the best dog in the world”, back home.
“He’s sticking to me like glue now,” Mr Wilson said.
Bonzer the cattle dog was taken from Chris Wilson’s property last week by a woman who was supposed to be picking up an older dog called Bud.
Mr Wilson was distraught when he couldn’t get in touch with the woman and with no idea where Bonzer was, he appealed to the public for help.
“I had heaps and heaps of calls and sightings from people who thought they’d seen him,” Mr Wilson said.
“A girl came up to me at Hay Rodeo and said she knew the name of who had him and where they lived. Three girls from Wagga said they’d help and they went to find him.”
After mistakenly going to the house next door, one of the girls noticed a car matching the description of the one Bonzer’s captor had used. Mr Wilson said they looked over the fence and there he was, chained up in the yard.
“They called his name and he started jumping around and whining,” he said.
“One of them went to talk to the woman while the others got him and he ran and jumped straight in the car.”
Since their reunion, Bonzer has stuck like glue to Mr Wilson.
“He’s my best mate, to lose him like this was upsetting and I’m glad he’s home,” Mr Wilson said.
“I want to thank everyone who got involved, it’s real good to have him back and he reckons so too.”
