Thaw going on slowly assisted by some rain and just as well too as the roads are given a chance. Stood on a nail to-day which ran right through my rubber boots into my foot. Very painful and after squeezing it, etc.had an injection against tetanus. This soil is teeming with the infection and a rusty nail in the ground is a good carrier.
My next job will be mend the boots. Went for drugs to-day to Pachevillers a new place to me being in the 5th Army area, to which we now belong, distance about 20 kilos and road not of the best. Heavy fog most of the day. At last the lack of supplies in drugs has been settled and I now have a large stock of ointment of which we are using a large quantity.
