Part of the Gangs Squad, investigators from Strike Force Raptor identified associates of the Burwood chapter of the Rebels motorcycle gang in the Griffith area as part of their ongoing inquiries.
Assisted by the Public Order and Riot Squad and Griffith Local Area Command, the strike force served a firearm prohibition order on a 34-year-old man at a property on White Road, Tharbogang at 7.45am yesterday.
A 65-year-old man at Mallinson Road, Lake Wyangan was also served with an order, with an additional search carried out at a Lakes Road property also.
As part of the orders police seized ammunition, various firearm parts, and a small amount of cannabis.
The firearm parts seized in the searches will be examined by specialist ballistic officers, with inquiries into the matters continuing.
Griffith’s Crime Manager Tim Atwood confirmed Griffith police were involved in the operation.
Strike Force Raptor was Australia’s first strike force dedicated to tackling the criminal activity and anti-social behaviour of outlaw motorcycle gangs.
It was established in 2009 by the State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad.
