Wagga’s Charlotte Harmer, 17, put the singer on the spot live on Sunrise on Wednesday morning.
She asked if he would play a gig in Wagga and the singer happily said he would – after he learns the words to You Don’t Call Wagga Wagga, Wagga.
“It was amazing … it was so surreal,” she said.
“I’m so shocked still.
“He’s so incredible.”
Miss Harmer won the chance to ask Sheeran a question on-air through a competition on Hit93.1 Riverina.
She arrived at the studio at 6.30am Tuesday and was able to meet Sheeran as he left the building.
He asked if she was from Wagga and if she would teach him the words to the song.
Then he said he had to move on but it was lovely to meet her.
Miss Harmer is remaining hopeful he comes good on his promise to play in Wagga.
“That would be the best thing ever,” she said.
“Part of me thinks he might actually come.”
Sunrise hosts David Koch and Samantha Armytage, a former Wagga girl, also spoke to Sheeran about playing in Wagga.
He said he would but was worried there was not a suitable venue.
Koch offered Armytage’s family’s property as a venue and the event has been nicknamed “Samstock” or “Waggastock.”
