Mayor Greg Conkey was both aware and encouraging of Mr Eldridge’s trip to Tamworth this week on behalf of the city.
“Wagga is about to spend many millions of dollars on netball facilities as well as exhibition, conference and entertainment facilities,” Cr Conkey said in a written statement.
“Tamworth has a number of excellent facilities and this is part of a fact finding mission to not only check out those facilities but to investigate how those facilities are managed.
“This is an extremely busy time for Tamworth and all their facilities are being used to maximum advantage.
“It is entirely appropriate that Mr Eldridge sees first-hand how those facilities operate.”
Big names like Troy Cassar-Daley, Lee Kernaghan and Kasey Chambers headline the week-long festivities.
In August Mr Eldridge flew business class to Germany on the ratepayer dime to learn about recycling and represent Wagga at the 50th anniversary of a sister city partnership.
Mr Eldridge refused an interview.
