His quick thinking and access to first aid kit in his car saved the life of a man who lost his leg on the scene.
Mr Campbell wrapped the leg in bandages and waited until the ambulance arrived.
“I’ve seen plenty of accidents but I’ve never seen an amputation like that,” he said.
“When you’re in a firetruck, you’re prepared.”
Mr Campbell welcomes the move by Thomas Bros, which was inspired by this incident, to include first aid kits in all their cars.
Mr Campbell also encourages people to get the necessary training to use the kits correctly.
“It’s one thing to have a first aid kit but it’s another to know how to use it,” he said.
