A law enforcement stalwart for more than a decade, his dedication has earned him a nomination for Citizen of the Year this Australia Day.
Mr Pelletier, 79, has devoted more than 8000 hours of his own time as a Volunteer In Policing (VIP) since 1999.
“I wanted to be around people, I have had people around me all my life and I could not imagine sitting at home,” he said.
“We find working with the police officers very interesting; the police are always friendly and treat us like colleagues.”
Mr Pelletier said he was “honoured” to be recognised for his contributions to both the region, and the police.
Ray has been involved with the Wagga Local Area Command for the past 17 years.
He is one of five Citizen of the Year nominees.
