Temora proved far too strong for Young on Sunday to bring Riverina’s biggest prize home.

Sent in to bat by the home team, Temora scrapped its way to 119 before being bowled out in the 52^nd over.

Jason Hall did most of the damage, claiming five wickets.

Peter Stimson was Temora’s best performer with the bat, making 45 runs at number five.

He and Peter Gerhard (10) put on 32 valueable together to get Temora to a defendable total.

It proved to be more than enough with Young bowled out for 63.

Only three bowlers were required to rip through the home side.

Wagga RSL’s Nick Grant claimed four wickets before Lake Albert’s Kurt Robertson struck three times and Dave Tassell chipped in with two wickets.

Captain Luke Gerhard was thrilled to have his hands on the cup once more.

“Everyone was real fired up as we knew we had to be at out best to beat them,” Gerhard said.

“We didn’t really bat very well but were keen in the field and it paid off in the end.”

Temora are now out to defend the cup against Wagga, the team they defeated last season.

Gerhard is looking for a better fielding performance in the clash at Nixon Park on Sunday.
