Henwood Park faithful Grace Di Trapani impressed Canberra FC selectors when the club brought its elite team to play a marquee match against Wagga’s best at Kessler Park last year.
Renowned among Leonard Cup players for her aggression and tenacity in defence and finesse and skill in attack, the right back has been tipped to make a name for herself in Canberra.
She has been signed on for reserve grade, and hopes to make a first grade appearance in the near future.
“I want to better myself, gain experience and say I’ve been up to the next level,” she said.
"I’ll be able to play with a new bunch of girls, more experienced girls, in a different league that’s harder.”
She thanked former coach Rod Buik for his commitment to her development.
“Having a dedicated coach has always been positive for me,” she said.
Buik, who has lost Di Trapani from the Wagga City Wanderers, wished her well.
Her mum, Deborah, has offered to drive Grace to training each Tuesday, so Grace, in her HSC year, can study in the car.
Two Cootamundra girls join the charge; Erin Boxsell has also been signed with Canberra FC’s reserve grade squad and Alyssa Armstrong will play for their under 17’s.
