Time to face facts
IF RAY Goodlass wants to have any credibility in his story writing (Ray’s Reasoning, January 17) he has to stop using the toilet roll holders to look through.

It is causing tunnel vision.
Why didn’t he mention Sarah Hanson Young, who is one of the biggest rorters of travel expenses?
Her overseas trips to Denmark, Syria, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Greece, Sweden, Lebanon and other Middle Eastern countries is nothing but a junket.
Her ideas will never carry any weight.
She just likes to travel and have some mug pay for it.
She is from the senate, often referred to as the unrepresentative swill.
Her ideas will never be enacted unless she horse trades her vote on other issues and you never know how low she will stoop.
The senate should be scrapped if it is going to stop the government from governing.
It is wrong that a government gets kicked out because it broke its promises when it is the senate that causes this by blocking legislation.
Ray, If you have some mud to throw, make sure you throw it on everyone who deserves it, not just the people you don’t like.

A magic homecoming
THE posters on every wall of the nursing home and police station proclaim a need to report elder abuse.
And make no mistake, we will be reporting a perpetrator, a most serious and powerful perpetrator – the government!
But this will be a process as we need to change a system.
Be on notice federal and state ministers for health and ageing, we are on our way to knock on your door.
Today though, we have more important business and that is to thank those who helped us to enable my uncle, Malcolm “Mac” MacGregor, to return to the home he loves so that he can continue to be cheeky to the nurses he also loves.
We need to thank those who provided the support while we fought through court the removal from that same home of the alleged offender.
Councillor Paul Funnell, I said we were in trouble and you did not leave our side (even when it got really hard).
The police, who steadfastly stood by us and went the extra mile – the arresting officers, the domestic violence support unit, the sergeant (shout out to West Wyalong!) and the inspector, who has confirmed the way forward.
The most important are the outraged friends of Mac.
The truckies on their CBs, those who posted social media messages that were able to be read to Mac and those who called and visited.
Also, we know some of you tried but found access to Mac limited to enable him to recover – but thank you, it was all important.
We must thank, importantly, the media, for though we needed to keep our family safe from you we also knew we needed you.
So Prime TV, the Daily Advertiser and the Temora Independent – you said you wanted to help and you did!
To our political friends, with special appreciation for the assistance of the mayor of Temora shire, Councillor Rick Firman.
For the advice of Dr Sutti and to the heads of emergency at Wagga Rural Referral Hospital – Dr Tooth, Dr Curran, the nurse unit manager of GEM for all of their supportive and kind staff. Also to those at the Forrest Centre who held Mac for us during his period of homelessness.
You will know if you have been a friend of Mac during this appalling time because you will have cared – so a big thank you and the most meaningful embrace to you all from the heart of the MacGregor/McKenzie/Clark extended family, who as always pulled together when the going got rough.
