Star of the Las Vegas show, Rich Binning, is coming to Wagga with co-star Barry Brisco for their first shows down under.
“I’ve been with the show for eight years and been all over the world but never to Australia,” Binning told The Daily Advertiser.
The show caused an outrage among conservative Griffith residents when it visited the town a decade ago.
Binning said while the name should speak for itself, at least one person a week walks out.
“They are coming in blind, thinking it was hand puppets and not actual nudity,” he said.
“But then they can’t believe how funny and silly it is and how used to seeing a penis you’ll get.”
Binning first realised he had a talent while he was studying theatre at college.
He read the Puppetry of the Penis handbook with a friend and became a hit at parties.
It was the first audition he attended in New York and he got the job.
But despite exposing himself on stage to thousands of people, Binning said he can still be quite shy.
Although he wears nothing but shoes and a cape on stage, he said he was mortified to realise he had been walking around with his fly down.
Other days he does not even realise he is not wearing pants while backstage with the crew before the show.
“It’s the best job in the world but I’m completely desensitised,” he said.
“When I’m on stage it’s kind of like I’m a whole different personality.”
The show features crowd favourites including the Eiffel Tower, the Lochness Monster and the hamburger and new manipulations such as the Miley Cyrus, Yoda and the Kardashian.
Binning said one of his favourite parts of the show is the audience participation.
Puppetry of the Penis will be at the Civic Theatre on February 2 and tickets are available here.
