For Killara’s Avril Payne, 11, who has been playing the cello since kindergarten, it is the biggest highlight of her year.
Saturday is part of a week-long event, which includes concerts on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night at the Joyes Hall at the Charles Sturt University in Wagga.
Avril said she practices the cello once a day, with hopes of a career in music.
“Mum and dad brought home the cello one day and I have loved playing music everyday since,” Miss Payne said.
“Saturday’s concert will give me a chance to see what I could do in the future.
“I would love to play the cello forever.”
