AFL officials visited Narrandera Sportsground on Monday and were impressed by the condition of the surface.
Southern NSW AFL community football and facilities manager Paul Habel said it was the best he has seen Narrandera Sportsground.
“It is in fantastic order,” Habel said.
“The amount of work that has been done in a short time, the top dressing, scarifying, it looks good.
“We’ve had a couple of ground inspections and the work required by the AFL has been carried out.
“It’s the best I’ve seen it actually.”
The Riverina League grand final was moved from Narrandera Sportsground in September due to the condition of the ground after a extremely wet winter.
The ground has improved remarkably since and will be right to host Greater Western Sydney (GWS) and West Coast on Saturday, February 18.
Coaches boxes are also being constructed and are expected to be completed by early January.
“The coaches boxes are coming along nicely. The frames are up and it just had to be bricked up,” Habel said.
“We’re very happy with the progress of everything and we’re looking forward to having the game there again.”
