Olympic cyclist Chloe Hosking was the special guest as Riverina’s finest young athletes were recognised for the sporting feats through the year.
Harper, from Temora High School, was awarded the prestigious Lorraine Wright Award for his efforts at cricket. Lavington Public School’s Brooke King took out the primary equivalent, the Bernie O’Connor Award for her efforts in athletics and swimming.
Harper said it was an honour to win the award.
“It’s been good, a great experience doing the NSW CHS stuff and a good standard,” Harper said.
“It’s a bit of a bonus in winning this award.
“I play for the fun of it and because I’ve got the passion and drive for it.”
