Items collected include toiletry items, small soft toys, pencils and colouring books for the children, as well as non-perishable food items.
One of the seven fundamentals of Girl Guides is service. Service is about doing your bit to make the world around you a better place and encouraging a sense of community.
SHE provides crisis and transitional accommodation and support in Wagga for women and women with children who are homeless or escaping domestic violence, abuse or disadvantage. Contact SHE on 6921 6793.
Turvey Park Girl Guides has three units that meet weekly during school terms.
Junior Guides – for girls aged 5-9 years, meet on Tuesdays from 6-7:30pm.
Guides – for girls aged 10-13 years and Senior Guides – for girls aged 14-18 years, meet on Wednesdays from 6-8pm. For more information contact Ros Steel on 0411 430 404 or visit TurveyParkGirlGuides on Facebook.
CWA report
The Country Womens Association’s (CWA) Riverina Group has donated $1160 to The Leisure Company to help buy outdoor settings for its Peter Street premises.
They were thrilled to receive the cheque and thanked the CWA enormously for the donation.
Support students
The Country Education Foundation (CEF) gives grants and scholarships to open the door to education, training and jobs for thousands of young Australians.
Without support, students wouldn’t be able to go on to uni and further study. Help more young Australians chase their dreams by making a tax-deductible donation this Christmas at https://engage.cef.org.au/donations and help promote the CEF’s Christmas Appeal.
Education
Principals and teachers from Wagga will attend a sustainability conference in Bowral early next year where they will discuss science, geography, literacy and numeracy.
