King was delisted by Melbourne in October after three seasons on the Demons’ rookie list.
King, a Wagga Tigers junior, played 23 VFL games for Casey Scorpions during that time and another 18 in the development league.
King will join Wagga Tigers premiership player Dale Walker at South Croydon after he signed at the Bulldogs last month.
Walker impressed in his one season at Robertson Oval before moving to Melbourne.
