The Bulls came out on top in the grand final rematch at Rawlings Park Turf on November 19, but issues have arisen surrounding the use of 12 players in the one-day to gain the victory.
Wagga Cricket Association president Eric Koetz said a directive has been sent out to all clubs to clarify the issue.
“They thought you could have a non-batter and non-bowler whereas the by-law actually says you are allowed to name a 12th man but only 11 can bat and only 11 can bowl,” Koetz said.
“They have interpreted that as having a non-batter and a non-bowler and the executive heard about that and sent out a directive to say that was not the case.”
Koetz said the possibility of the Bulls losing the four points from win hasn’t been discussed.
He doesn’t expect it will be either, but questioned Lake Albert’s handling of the situation.
“For them to think they can have a non-batter and non-bowler is one -not in the spirit of the game and two – is really pushing the envelope,” Koetz said. “They need to have a bit of a good hard look at themselves.”
Koetz said the association asked for a “please explain” to the undefeated ladder leaders five days ago are yet to receive a response.
Lake Albert president Scott Turner said the club was not prepared to comment on the issue until it was “very clear what rules we are playing by”.
It is the second time in as many seasons the Bulls have been mired in controversy.
