Representatives from Griffith District Football Association and Football Wagga met to discuss the potential of Hanwood FC, Yoogali SC and Griffith City joining the Wagga competition.
GDFA president Angelo Cirillo and Football Wagga president Erwin Budde both agreed the meeting was a positive one and were hopeful a decision would be reached in coming weeks.
“It was a very productive, open forum from members of the clubs and the executive committee of Football Wagga,” Cirillo said.
“The meeting went really well, it was very positive,” Budde added.
“Everyone in the room came at it with a positive attitude, an open mind and it was encouraging.”
Nothing was confirmed at the meeting and the ball is firmly in Football Wagga’s court.
Wagga clubs will discuss the potential inclusion of the Griffith clubs at a meeting on Wednesday.
“We’ll put together a bit of a discussion paper and at our general monthly meeting this Wednesday, we’ll discuss the outcomes of the meeting and present that discussion paper,” Budde said.
“We’re asking the clubs to discuss it with their own committees.
“The Griffith clubs have offered to have a meeting with our clubs if they want to.
“We’re hoping everyone will get back to Football Wagga in the next two or three weeks with their sentiments and we’ll ultimately make the decision.”
