A number of clubs have swarmed Perryman in the countdown to the draft and the 17-year-old simply wants a crack at an AFL career and is not worried about where he has to go to achieve that.
Perryman has been in Sydney this week being used as a poster boy for the AFL Draft as they look to promote the event in traditional rugby league heartland.
Greater Western Sydney (GWS) are expected to secure the services of Perryman in the draft, given they have first rights to him through the zoning of Riverina to the Giants.
Perryman has no idea what to expect.
“It’s pretty exciting,” Perryman said.
“I’m hoping to be called out, but when that is I’m not too worried.
“I don’t know what the Giants are thinking. Whoever bids first, I’m not too sure whether the Giants will match it or not, I’m like anyone else.
“The last time I spoke to the Giants was at the (AFL) Combine.”
A number of clubs have shown interest in Perryman, despite the Giants’ position.
Officials from North Melbourne, Carlton, Hawthorn, Western Bulldogs, Fremantle and West Coast have all travelled to visit him on the farm.
Perryman said Adelaide and North Melbourne had shown most interest in him.
“There’s been a few clubs but Adelaide and North Melbourne have probably shown the most,” he said.
“I’ve talked to them a fair bit.”
Perryman, a premiership player at Collingullie-Glenfield Park, has been touted as a possible top 10 selection.
North Melbourne have selection 11 and Adelaide, 13, so a bid could come immediately if Perryman does not go in the top 10.
If the Giants do grab Perryman, he will become the second player from Collingullie to end up at the Giants, joining good mate Matt Kennedy, who was picked up last year.
The pair have joked about the possibility a lot in recent weeks but to follow in the footsteps of Kennedy is something Perryman would be proud to do.
“It’s pretty exciting, coming from ‘Gullie and that, and I might end up at the same club as Matty, you never know, so it would be pretty good that way,” he said.
“I’ve always wanted to play AFL footy so I can’t wait.”
Perryman will attend the AFL Draft with his parents, Max and Liz, while his brothers will be home in Collingullie.
Perryman believes there will be a fair bit of excitement in Collingullie.
“The Gullie boys are pretty excited,” he said.
