Muir has signed on as a playing assistant coach for next year’s Riverina League season.
He brings with him a wealth of experience having played 150 games of state league with Tasmanian club Glenorchy.
Crows coach Jade Hodge excited to have Muir on board.
“He’s obviously got a lot of football experience … he won a premiership with Glenorchy this year,” Hodge said.
During his 150 games at Glenorchy, he booted more than 120 goals for the club.
In Glenorchy’s premiership season this year, Muir kicked 24 goals from 12 games in state league, plus 17 in four games in the state development league.
He also kicked two goals and was named in Glenorchy’s best in their grand final victory over North Launceston.
Muir started out as a defender but was transformed to a forward after overcoming a serious knee injury in 2012.
Leeton-Whitton was able to secure his signature again through the help of its Tasmanian connection.
Captain Bryce O’Garey, who also hails from the state, is close friends with Muir.
“A lot of the guys like myself, Ben (Curley) and “Pup” know him really well,” Hodge said.
“We’ve been chasing him for quite a while, so it’s good to have him on board.
“I think he will bring a lot to the team both on and off the field. It will be good for our young blokes and I’ve got no doubt I’ll be learning plenty from him as well.”
Hodge was hopeful of confirming more signings with the club in the coming weeks.
The Crows kicked off their pre-season training on Monday in their bid to go one better than last season where they lost the grand final to the Wagga Tigers.
Hodge was unable to move to Leeton until early this year and missed part of the Crows pre-season training.
He hoped by starting early, it would pay off when the season proper gets underway next year.
“We definitely want to be one of the fittest teams out there this year,” Hodge said.
“We’ve identified our endurance wasn’t as good as it could have been, so hopefully our hard work will pay off.”
