The Blues have lured Griffiths back to the region and he will replace Josh Hamilton in the top job.
Hamilton led Coleambally to their first Farrer League grand final appearance this year but has decided to step down from the role.
The Blues wasted little time in finding a replacement and have secured the services of Griffiths after he spent this year as coach of Picola League club Kotunga.
Coleambally president Shane Mannes was pleased to be able to bring Griffiths to the club.
“He was pretty keen to come back this way and we were able to find him a job,” Mannes said.
“We’re looking forward to it.
“A few of the Griffith blokes out here played with him before and put us in touch.
“Hopefully he can bring one or two with him.”
Griffiths will arrive in Coleambally with a decorated football background.
Standing at 206 centimetres, Griffiths will prove a dominant force in the middle for Coleambally.
The 33-year-old has experience at state league level in the Victorian Football League, South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and Western Australian Football League (WAFL) after stints with Port Melbourne, Glenelg and East Fremantle.
Griffiths spent two seasons at Griffith but never fully hit his straps due to injury.
He played 21 games for Katunga this year and was in their best on eight occasions, kicking 24 goals.
Significantly, Griffith’s arrival will load Coleambally up with three of the most potent big men in the Farrer League when he teams up with Hamilton and Dean Pound.
The Blues are confident Hamilton will stay on in a playing capacity once he serves his eight-game supension from this year’s grand final.
“We don’t need a lot,” Mannes said.
“We just need to bring on what we’ve got and pick up one or two more.
“If we can get a bit of speed then we should be alright.”
Griffiths’ appointment adds to a strong Griffith flavour at Coleambally after Hamilton, Brandon Mathews, Chris Cerato, Tom Groves and James Fallon headed out there last season.
