Fotu had an injury plagued season with Temora, where breaking his arm twice limited the winger to only three appearances.
It was his only year with the club following three seasons with Brothers.
Originally a representative player with his hometown club Leeton, Gundagai secretary Martin Hay believes he is a good fit for the club.
With Phil Latu sidelined with a serious knee injury, strengthening the backline was the main priority for the Tigers.
Hay believes the 27-year-old will do just that.
“Mat Rose has indicated to us that he doesn’t know what he is up to and he is getting on in years and with Phil Latu suffering a major injury we were short on outside backs,” Hay said.
“Noa become available and we jumped at the chance to sign him.
“He is a really nice fella and I’m sure that he will fit into the club really well.”
Fotu’s relationship with former Brethren teammates Blake and Brock Dunn helped Fotu make the link to last year’s grand finalists.
Hay said the club was willing to give Fotu, who was once part of the Wests Tigers feeder system, as much time as he needs to be 100 per cent fit.
“He broke his arm twice last year so he might take a while to come back from that but we are prepared to give him some time,” Hay said.
Hay also revealed Vinny Brown, who was originally set to sit the year out, has signed a deal with Canberra club Woden.
