It comes as abattoir worker Lance Atkinson, who allegedly punched the Junee senior constable in the face, made a failed bid for bail in Wagga Court on Monday.
Wagga’s police chief Bob Noble revealed his colleague’s physical and mental scarring may never subside after the “sudden and unprovoked act of violence”.
The Daily Advertiser understands her lower jaw and the roof of her mouth were fractured, several teeth were knocked out and her nose was shattered.
“She is a fine, experienced and brave police officer who was simply doing her job until she was viciously attacked,” he said.
“These kind of random and sudden violent attacks leave an undeniable mark on someone’s physical and emotional well-being.
“She faces a prospect of several more surgeries and we’re extremely concerned, but also supportive, of her.”
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Atkinson pleaded with magistrate Erin Kennedy to be considered for bail on Monday, citing a need to access mental health services and prepare his legal defence.
Facts tendered to the court stated the accused lives with ADHD and has been investigated for potentially having bipolar disorder.
Ms Kennedy described his behaviour as “out of control” and said no conditions she could impose would ensure the community’s safety.
It was also revealed in court the alleged attacker failed to attend a psychiatrist appointment he had scheduled prior to the incident.
Ms Kennedy said it was a strong prosecution case.
Atkinson is currently being kept in a crisis unit at the Bathurst Correctional Centre, where he will remain until the next hearing on January 11.
He faces a raft of charges including cause grievous bodily harm to police officer on duty, assault officer in execution of duty, and resist arrest.
