In a video released on Monday by the Wagga Rail Trail Committee, Mrs Galloway remembers her childhood in Wagga, spending time outdoors with the family.
“I feel passionate about Wagga and the opportunities it offers families,” Mrs Galloway said.
“I remember as a kid riding my bike absolutely everywhere.”
The proposed rail trail will be a 21-kilometre trek from the Wagga Tourist Information Centre to the Ladysmith Railway Station, along a disused rail corridor.
Similar rail trails have opened diverse business opportunities, Mrs Galloway said, which could provide an economic benefit as well.
“It would be a great legacy for the community,” she said.
“Not just from the health aspect but also for the future of business.”
