Publican Jack Egan said the “frail, old man” was a “quiet fella” who didn’t drink or smoke.
“It’s quite sad really, I never saw much of the poor old bugger,” Mr Egan said.
“He would collect his meal from downstairs and take it up to his room.
“He was not well and stayed here in between hospital visits.”
According to Mr Egan, the elderly man died in his room on Sunday morning.
