Rebeckah McCallum, who suffers from severe anxiety and panic attacks, said the housing community’s inclusive nature has had a profound impact on her well-being long before moving in. 

Ms McCallum was asked to be the official photographer for Brunslea Park’s annual settlement party early next year and said photography, along with her new-found sense of inclusion, has eased her anxiety and boosted her morale. 

“I find taking photos very calming, it's just stopping for a minute to focus on something different and forgetting about all of my worries,” she said. 

“I’m very excited to be taking photos on the day.” 

The avid photographer said a combination of open discussions surrounding mental health and consuming past-times had continued to assist with her peace of mind.

“You shouldn’t be ashamed to have a mental health issue,” Ms McCallum said.

“It’s great to find a hobby that ties you down and allows you focus on something different.”

Brunslea Park’s settlement party kicks off early next year.
