A FORMER Special Air Services (SAS) soldier who lost his left leg saving a fellow parachutist will ride into Wagga next week as part of a 10,000km bike ride to raise money for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and other injuries.

Laurie ‘Truck’ Sams rode out of Hanoi on May 12 with an Australian flag he will present to the Australian War Memorial on Remembrance Day – November 11 – before completing his epic journey in Sydney on November 20.
Mr Sams is expected to arrive in Wagga in the afternoon of Sunday, November 6, and will be welcomed to the city by mayor Greg Conkey, other city councillors and members of the RSL sub-branch.
Mr Sams was awarded the Star of Courage for the parachute incident in 1995.
