A SENTENCING correction has resulted in a woman convicted of a high-range drink-driving offence receiving a lesser penalty than the original punishment handed out in June.

Amanda Jayne Springall, 30, of central Wagga, was arrested after a car crash on Tarcutta Street in February.
She was sentenced to five months’ home detention, disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to have an interlock device installed on her car’s ignition for four years at the end of the disqualification.
But Roads and Maritime Services wrote to Wagga Local Court to say the disqualification and interlock periods were incorrect.
In Wagga Local Court on Wednesday, Springall’s disqualification was reduced to nine months.
The interlock period was halved to 24 months.
The home detention period was not changed.
