As Super Sevens finals loom on Saturday, SIRU leads the pack, with no intention of slowing-down. The message has been loud and clear; the Riverina is the heartland of rugby sevens.
“We have an advantage, we play sevens week-in, week-out,” coach Seth Stoltenberg said.
“It’s a credit to our women’s competition, they’re all playing in the local competition and getting regular exposure to rugby. Across eight games, we’ve only conceded 12 points. To come out on top we’re going to have to be strong in defence. Our one-on-one tackles let us down a little, but there’s always been someone to come across and cover that missed tackle.”
Stoltenberg commended first-year players Sara Smart and Danielle Plummer who turned heads on October 15.
