Well, he is right; domestic violence is a male problem because males are the majority of abusers, so instead of trying to get women to address it, or leave, or put up with it for the sake of kids, we should put that burden on the gender that is actually responsible for the violence.
So males of Wagga, here is a challenge for you – let’s stop domestic violence in Wagga.

Scratch the great race
HERE’S a way to boost national productivity – cancel the Melbourne Cup. All work stops for two hours nationally and effectively for two days in Victoria – just to celebrate a cruel and violent event.
Ever since Archer became famous for winning the first Melbourne Cup while already injured, a race in which two other horses died, countless other horses have suffered catastrophic injuries on the racetrack after being whipped mercilessly and pushed past their limits.
Last year, Red Cadeaux was killed after breaking a leg during the race.
Researchers at the University of Melbourne have discovered that half the racehorses they studied had blood in the windpipe, and nearly all of them had blood deeper in the lungs (close to 90 per cent).
Apart from trauma to the respiratory system, most horses suffer from stomach ulcers.
Studies both in Sydney and the US have discovered over 85 per cent had lesions in the stomach lining.
Sick and injured horses may also be given steroids, which can mask pain or make a horse run faster. Most broken-down horses don’t make headlines; they’re just quietly shipped interstate where they’re slaughtered for human consumption.
There’s nothing “sporting” about a pastime in which animals routinely suffer and die. It's time for the nation to stop the race that stops the nation.

Fine farce – part two
ELEVEN $300 fines have been issued for smoking in the grounds of the Wagga Hospital since April 2015 (DA, October 22). Now, the truth please; how many fines remain unpaid?
I would imagine very few, if any, as people know our government's efforts in collecting fines is very poor.
People may recall a letter I wrote some time ago stating the NSW Ambulance are owed just under $100M and the reluctance of the State Revenue to do their job in collecting this money.

Hatching a new debate
PAUL Bosman pointed out that eggs need to be fertilised before they can become a chicken in his confusing letter to the editor (DA, October 17). The egg industry kills millions of male chicks every day.
Due to invasive manipulation, hens are forced to lay 270 to 300 eggs per year instead of naturally 10 to 15 eggs in spring each year, in order to reproduce.
The egg industry is one of the cruellest, as "caged layer fatigue" is caused by the overproduction of eggs and is responsible for often fatal diseases of the reproductive tract, osteoporosis, bone fractures and skeletal paralysis. By 18 months to two years of age, their legs and wings are frequently riddled with breaks, and they are considered "spent".
Chickens were domesticated for one reason, to exploit them. Where abortion came into this discussion is beyond me, Mr Bosman.
