A PLANNED five-day court hearing has been avoided by three men pleading guilty to charges stemming from a violent incident at Mount Austin High School that terrified staff.

The melee broke out after school staff tried to calm tensions between certain families on November 20.
With punches being thrown everywhere, 33-year-old Joshua William Barnes, of Mount Austin, emerged among the fighting men waving a 60-cm wooden club with screws embedded in the head.
Police have praised school staff for the way they reacted to the incident.
Barnes pleaded guilty in Wagga Local Court this week to being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence (intimidation) and using unlawful violence.
Leroy Charles, 29, of Tolland, and Maona Brown, 23, of Ashmont, have pleaded guilty to common assault.
