Thanks to some last-minute scrambling, 17 teams registered for the action-packed friendly tournament at Bolton Park on Saturday.
“I didn’t expect for it to go that well,” organiser Zac Maloney said.
“It was a lot of fun, a successful day.”
There were enough teams for three divisions; two men’s divisions and one mixed division comprising of five teams. Each team in each pool played one-another, and the top four played finals. The three-point contest was a highlight for many participants, including Maloney, who won the final by three baskets.
Wagga Basketball plans to run another three-a-side tournament soon.
“We might run it twice a year, I think we’re undecided,” he said.
“We’re thinking about a day around the midway point in state league season, to see whether we get more interest.”
