The 17-year-old who pleaded guilty to procuring a child under 14 for production of child abuse material and possessing child abuse material was sentenced on Wednesday, October 12.

According to police facts the 12-year-old victim and the teenager had begun communicating in April of this year.

Both were students at the same high school in a town in the Riverina area.

The victim a student in Year 7, the teenager at the time a student in Year 11.

On April 29 the victim contacted the teenager in an attempt to purchase cannabis from him.

In return the teenager asked the victim to send him nude photographs in exchange for the drug.

The victim has then taken naked photos of herself, which she sent to the teenager through Snapchat, a social media messaging service where pictures typically appear for a few moments before disappearing.

She would end up sending eight in total during the course of the evening.

The conversation between the pair progressed before the teenager stated he would give the victim a $50 deal for $20 if she were to send him a nude video of herself.

The victim then recorded herself and has sent the video to the young man, again via Snapchat.

On Wednesday, May 11 the victim was interviewed by investigators who were attached to the Griffith child abuse squad.

During the interview she made a disclosure of sexual abuse committed upon her by the teenager.

On Thursday, May 19 police attended the workplace of the teenager where he was arrested.

A search of his mobile phone found he still had images and video of the victim.

The teenager received a good behaviour bond for 10 months.
