Four-year-old Shaye James was among the first to test out the new spiral track extension at the Willans Hill Miniature Railway.
The Thomas The Tank Engine enthusiast gave the extra 900 metres the thumbs up after taking a spin on Saturday afternoon.
His father, engine driver Richard James, said his two other children have also given the track extension the seal of approval.
“It’s been 25 years in the making,” he said.
“The kids absolutely love it.”
The new track winds up in a spiral towards Lord Baden Powell Drive, with spectacular views of the Wagga Botanic Gardens.
The track was officially opened to the public during a Saturday afternoon ceremony attended by more than 100 guests.
Engine heads will be able to test out the new extension on the first and third Sunday of every month at $2 per person.
