The Jets, who narrowly missed a grand final appearance after a heart-breaking golden point loss to the Blues, could be forced into a change with playing co-coach Sam Fisher indicating he may not have time to retain the role.
“I’m definitely still going to be playing out at Ariah Park but I might be stepping back from the coaching job next year,” Fisher said.
“Just with work commitments I might have to step back from the responsibility side, the coaching side, I might not be able to commit 100 percent this year.”
After serving as an assistant to non-playing coach Darren Jackson in 2015, the pair shared co-coaching duties this year.
Fisher said he’s still working through his availability with his employer and the club but confirmed the a focus at the Jets is on keeping a promising line-up together.
“Everyone’s got that little bit of fire in the belly after being so close to being in the grand final, so everyone’s pretty keen to keep the group together again,” he said.
There is a question mark over the availability of Canberra recruits Mark Kimball and Tim Gray for another season of travelling.
However, Fisher’s younger brother Jack is likely to do exactly that after moving to Canberra for work.
Meanwhile, Coleambally remain in talks with ruckman Josh Hamilton about continuing into a second season.
A promising coaching debut was soured by an eight-week suspension following the grand final loss to East Wagga-Kooringal and Hamilton has been weighing up whether he wants to do the job again, amid interest from Holbrook.
President Shane Mannes said they’re still “working through it” and hope to have an outcome as quickly as possible.
However, Mannes has declared he will step down as president after being at the helm since Coleambally moved to the Farrer League in 2011.
“Just to have a break, basically, I thought I’d try and step back a little bit,” Mannes said. “But I’m still going to be heavily involved, looking after recruiting and things like that.”
The Blues are aiming to elect a replacement early next month.
Barellan and Temora are the other Farrer League clubs which are still to lock in a coach for next season.
