The International Fellowship of Cricketing Rotarians’ Festival of Cricket got underway in Wagga on Monday despite a rain-delayed start.
Players have travelled from as far as England and India for the bi annual festival.
Wagga’s record-breaking wet winter already forced changes to the festival and it returned to cause nuisance again on the opening day’s play.
The start of Monday’s matches were delayed three hours due to the wet weather and were changed to a Twenty20 format.
Chairman of the Organising Committee, Wagga’s David Benn, hoped the Twenty20 matches, between Book Book and India Masters, and Gumly Gumly and Grong Grong, would be completed despite the rain.
The festival was due to be held at Wagga’s Bolton Park complex, including Robertson Oval, until the closure of grounds occurred as a result of the record wet winter.
All matches will now be played at Duke of Kent Oval.
