Her uncle noticed auditions were being held in Wagga and the very next day, the 19-year-Griffith resident was travelling to try out.
“I knew if I didn’t go for it, I was going to regret it,” she said.
“I had a go and this is what came of it.”
Miss Rosa was eliminated from the show during Sunday night’s episode but said she would not change a thing.
Her first audition in front of judges Adam Lambert, Guy Sebastian and Iggy Azalea was with Nina Simone’s Feeling Good.
The positive feedback held her in good stead to continue to the a cappella challenge that was next.
Her rendition of I’d Rather Go Blind failed to impress the judges enough to keep her around.
Miss Rosa sees her elimination as just the beginning.
“I just wanted to go out there and do my thing and learn as much as I can,” she said.
“I’m now equipped with more knowledge to pursue music as a career.”
Miss Rosa will study at the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney next year, majoring in song writing.
“I love being able to tell stories and writing in general,” she said.
The response from the Griffith community has been overwhelming and Miss Rosa is appreciative of the support she has received from home.
