Wagga best friends Cleo Randal and Gabby O’Connell are looking to make months of hard work and travel worthwhile when they compete in the All Schools touch competition in Western Australia next week.
After making their way through the selection process as part of the NSW Combined Catholic College team in July, the 14-year-olds have made a number of trips to Sydney for training sessions and are ready to take on the best in the nation.
Randal is following in the footsteps of her older sister Vienna, but is looking to tread her own path.
She can’t wait for her own experience.
“I can’t believe I was watching my sister three years ago and now I’m here with my best friend,” Randal said.
Queensland have had a stranglehold on the tournament, but buoyed by the confidence of coach Amy Regal they think they can come out on top.
“We’ve got a chance to beat them,” O’Connell said.
