Eccleston is one of three players in contention for the best and fairest nod, but he expects it be be a tight race to the finish.
“I’m not sure and in the last few rounds I was very happy with they way I played but I have no control over what the voters see,” Eccleston said.
“I would be honoured if I won it, but either way I’ve been very happy with the way I have played personally.
“I set a few little goals for myself at the start of the year and acheived them.
“I’ve just had a good year back down here in Gundagai with all the boys.
“We have a good group of guys at the moment and they’ve had it fun and enjoyable. It’s been a new lease on life.”
When polling was last revealed with five rounds to go Eccleston and Junee fullback Daniel Foley were locked on 13 points, two clear of Southcity halfback Kyle McCarthy.
McCarthy can only pick up votes in the final three games while Eccleston was involved in three wins and loss to Albury to end the home and away season.
Foley enjoyed an exceptional finish to the season, highlighted by a match-winning try from 60 metres in the last round against Junee, but the Diesels did lose two of their last five games.
The presentation is part of Men of League raceday at Murrumbidgee Turf Club.
Meanwhile, Eccleston has revealed he is far from a certain starter for next season.
He came back into the team for the grand final loss to Southcity following a pectoral muscle injury and is weighing up whether or not his body needs a break.
“I haven’t decided and I don’t know what I am doing,” Eccleston said.
“I’m 33 next year and not getting any younger and the body was starting to take its toll on me at the end of the year with my pec and a few other little things.
“I’m going to wait and see how the baby settles in, how work is going and will make a decision. Hopefully before Christmas I can give James (Smart) an answer.”
