Fresh from guiding the Swans back to finals for the first time in a decade, Pavese has taken up a assistant coaching position with the Giant’s team in the inaugural AFL women’s competition.
Pavese, who is based in Canberra, hopes to continue in his position at Griffith but will know more next month when he returns from an overseas trip. The AFL women’s league runs between February and March.
“I’ll be heavily involved with that until March,” Pavese said.
“There is still a few things to sort out and a decision (on Griffith) will be made in November.”
The Swans are keen to build on this year’s fifth-placed finish and have already added Luke Shannon and Jacob Barrington to their list.
Shannon is a Swans junior that played with Shepparton Bears this year, while Barrington arrives from Koondrook-Barham.
Toby Blissett and Che Jenkins are expected to return from injury as well. The only confirmed departures are Alex Birch (Melbourne) and Mick Duncan (Gold Coast).
The Swans also have high hopes for a number of players from their premiership under 17 team that have already committed to senior football next year.
On Friday, Jordan Iudica beat Ben King to win the club’s best and fairest.
