Leeton’s considering a return, after playing in Wagga in 2011, and moving to the geographically-closer Griffith competition.
Tolland president Maurie Hogan heartened by the prospect of even more healthy competition, after hearing the news at the Competition Review meeting. Both of Tolland’s first-grade squads missed out on playing a grand final by a goal, and the reserve-grade men played in the grand final.
“It was a really well-attended meeting, and people were very positive about it," he said.
“It’d be great to have another strong club on board.”
Lake Albert premiership players Jamie Rankin and Fred Gardner have also welcomed Leeton.
“Are they really thinking about moving? That’d be unreal,” Gardner said.
“They’ve always been a good club.”
