More than 500 world-class competitors have been at a loose end at a rain-drenched Wokolena Range on Thursday. World Field Archery Championships’ day four of five was called off, as the hilly, unstable ground at the course was deemed too dangerous after 17mm of rain overnight.

“The ground’s saturated, the course is too slippery,” organiser Ken Morley said.
“Safety’s a major consideration for us."
With another downpour set to hit Wagga and surrounding regions, it’s likely the archers will not compete on Friday either. In that case, organisers will base results on rounds one to three.
“Because they’ve shot three rounds, that’s all they need to finalise results,” Morley said.
