Natalie Grylls from Book Book was awarded the Matthew George young stockman award at the Melbourne Royal Show. The award was set up eight years ago after Mathew died in a car crash aged 21.
“I’ve wanted to apply since it started, we were close family friends,” she said. “It is very dear to my heart.”
Natalie has been involved with cattle her entire life. She grew up on a farm and studied at Yanco Agricultural High School where she was heavily involved with showing and the school's stud.
The 17-year-old finishes high school this year and will travel to Canada for six months next year to explore the Angus cattle industry and learn more about producing cattle.
