The highlight of the festival is the National Farm Art Awards, a fantastic outdoor sculpture exhibition and competition held along the banks of Brookong Lagoon.
Discover creative masterpieces fashioned from recycled metal, rusty farm materials and elements of the land.
With a prize of $10,000 for the overall winner, these unique sculptures are more than good - they are amazing.
There are also incredible fine art and photography on display, a tribute to the high calibre of artists who enter the Spirit of the Land Festival each year.
The beautiful main street in Lockhart, with its ornate verandahs and historic etched pavers, will be closed to traffic to host nearly 100 market stalls, with shops offering a range of specials over the weekend. The ‘Make it, Bake it, Grow it’ market, is just part of the fun to be had at the festival.
Taste and purchase great regional produce and on Saturday, book one of the Paddock to Plate farm tours for a first hand insight into food and farming. Garden lovers will enjoy the trail of town and country gardens, and the Tuckerbox Antiques auction is guaranteed to draw a crowd, as does the children’s entertainment area.
Next to the sculpture display, Brookong Lagoon offers great food, relaxing entertainment and plenty of seating, under a canopy of shady green.
Saturday night entertainment is held here and includes relaxing music, a choice of foods and a fantastic fireworks display at dusk.
