McCarthy was presented with the award in front of 130 people at Southcity’s premiership presentation evening last Friday.
McCarthy also won the leading pointscorer award.
Hayden Jeans was named the Bulls’ best forward, while Jade Hodge was awarded the best back.
Pani Manawatu claimed coach’s award.
Corey Levy was awarded the Terry Hill Clubperson of the Year, while Greg Wiscombe won the Southcity Old Boys’ award.
Luke McBeath was named the Ernie Lloyd Club Player of the Year.
Sammy Charles won the leaguetag best and fairest.
