The grounds were wet but not dangerous so the committee welcomed show-goers with open arms.
The show embraced the country feel with a bushman’s relay and gumboot toss put on.
Hundreds turned out to support the event but numbers were down on previous shows.
Horse numbers were halved at this year’s show with around 50 horses on the grounds.
Show secretary Jodie Green said most competitors were concerned with the conditions of the roads on the way to Lockhart.
“Most people were unsure how they’d go getting here and home again,” she said.
However, despite the lower numbers Mrs Green was thrilled that Lockhart could still host the show with so many other shows cancelling due to wet conditions.
“I’m proud we proceeded and held the show,” she said.
“We want to get a reputation for doing our best to hold our event no matter what.”
The conditions at the ground were far from perfect with many vehicles getting bogged and some of the larger rides canceling with fear of being stuck.
The committee were prepared for the conditions and had a person on hand all day to help get people out.
“We had a tractor on hand ready to go,” Mrs Green said.
Many sections of the showground had to be closed because they were too wet but all competitors were supportive of the committee and followed directions.
The pavilion side of the show attracted strong entries with a new class in the wool section being a highlight for the show.
A non-museuled wool section was introduced for the first time.
“I believe we are the first show in country NSW to have this section,” Mrs Green said.
It is hoped the section will gather momentum and be bigger at next year's show and encourage other shows to add the same section to their shows.
“We’d be thrilled if it got going,” Mrs Green said.
“It’s a topic in the industry that won’t go away, it needs to be addressed.”
Other firsts for the show included the bushman’s relay and a gumboot toss which proved to be popular.
The bushman’s relay included a wheel barrow race, a sprint to grab a bag of dog food, putting on overalls and rolling a tyre.
The event had been at the show in the past but was introduced this year.
A local family took out the top prize in the relay.
Mrs Green said the committee plan to keep the events running at future shows.
