And, given the opportunity, Samson Lucas, 12, would like to ask the boys in sky blue one crucial question; what did you do to get there?
Lucas wants to play professionally one day, and looks forward to watching the game from Sydney FC’s enclosure.
“I like how they have room to have some nice shots,” he said.
He religiously watches the A-League with his dad, who will accompany him to Alliance Stadium, attends games when he can, and has kicked a ball since he could walk. This year he played for Lake Albert in both under 12’s and under 13’s competitions, and has trained with the Wagga City Wanderers’ academy squad.
The highlight of the season took place in the under 13’s grand final when he scored in the penalty shoot-out.
“I’ve been practicing at home with dad, and aiming for the right-hand side,” he said.
“I just struck it nicely, it went in right where I wanted it, I was very happy with that.”
Lucas won by the ‘Game Day Experience’ by registering for Sydney FC’s holiday clinic. He will attend the Wagga-based clinic at Rawlings Park on October 5-7. To register, visit Sydney FC’s website.
