FORMER Wagga stayer High Opinion has finished midfield at his first start for new trainer Kris Lees.

High Opinion finished strongly when sixth in the $40,000 Benchmark 72 Handicap (1400m) in class record time at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Connections took the horse from Wagga trainer Chris Heywood at the end of last preparation to race the five-year-old at metropolitan level.

High Opinion ran second behind Tom Melbourne in this year’s Albury Gold Cup.
